Privacy Policy

The short version

AniRecap does not require an account, does not have a login, and does not store your reading history, settings, or any personal data on our servers. Everything about your reading experience — progress, saved voice, watchlist, language — is stored locally in your browser (via localStorage) and never leaves your device.

What runs on your device, not our servers

• Text recognition (OCR): performed entirely in-browser. Page images are never uploaded anywhere by AniRecap for this purpose.
• Text-to-speech: either your operating system's built-in voice, or an optional neural voice model downloaded once and cached on your device.
• Reading progress, watchlist, and settings: stored in your browser's local storage only.

What our servers do handle

Our server acts as a relay: it fetches series listings, chapter lists, and page images from MangaDex's public API on your behalf, and proxies manga page images so your browser can process them. Standard web server logs (IP address, request timestamp, user agent) may be retained briefly by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention, in line with normal web hosting practice.

Third-party services

• MangaDex — the source of all series and chapter data. See MangaDex's privacy policy.
• Google AdSense — we display ads served by Google, which may use cookies and similar technologies to serve relevant ads. You can control ad personalization at Google Ads Settings. See Google's guidance on how it uses data when you use partner sites.
• Hugging Face — the optional HD voice model is downloaded from Hugging Face's CDN when you choose to enable it.

Cookies

AniRecap itself does not set tracking cookies. Google AdSense may set cookies as described above once ads are enabled on the site.

Children's privacy

AniRecap does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, since no account or personal data submission exists on the site.
